On Sunday evening October 2nd Steve Zbranek put on his dancing shoes to participate in the 2011 Dancing With The Stars event benefiting the Lake Travis Community Library. Zbranek, founding partner of Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes of Austin spends his days overseeing the custom home company he began over 11 years ago. Most recently, he’s made time to practice up to five days a week with his dance partner Jennifer Kloss. Ms. Kloss, a professional ballroom dance instructor assisted Zbranek in perfecting his best Patrick Swayze moves for the event. The couple danced to Bill Medley’s “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” from the hit movie Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

The event, held at the World of Tennis in Lakeway, drew a record crowd of over 500 people who came out in support of their friends and the new Lake Travis Community Library. A total of eight local “celebrities” performed with individually selected dance professionals to a variety of dances. Steve and Jennifer made their rendition of the famous Swayze/Grey dance look effortless, as one Judge exclaimed, “Steve you have done Patrick Swayze proud!” The couple wowed the crowd and even took 3rd Place in the evenings competition.
Zbranek and his business partner, Tony Holt are no strangers to supporting their community. Recently Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes built a benefit home supporting the Lake Travis Youth Association after it was defrauded of nearly $200,000. Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes was able to donate $150,000 back to the youth organization which provides safe, fun, friendly and affordable recreational opportunities for the youth of Lake Travis.
Zbranek has never been one to back down from a challenge and this event for the Lake Travis Community Library, provided a him with just that. Never having danced more than a bit of Country & Western Mr. Zbranek approached the preparation for Dancing With The Stars with the same tenacity he is known for through out the greater Austin community. The hours of practice paid off for both Zbranek and Kloss, as the crowd cheered them on delighting in every step the couple took.
At the end of the evening, after winning 3rd Place in this year’s event, Zbranek commented that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience as he took to the dance floor this time with his wife and family.
