Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes was awarded the 2011 Austin Business Journal’s Custom Home Builder of the Year at the annual Residential Real Estate Awards ceremony held Thursday March 10th. Each year the Austin Business Journal (ABJ) hosts this awards ceremony honoring the 50 Top Residential Real Estate Agents, Custom Home Builders, Production Home Builders, and Master-Planned Community awards.
Zbranek & Holt were recognized for their outstanding contribution to the community by donating $150,000 to a local youth sports association through the building of a Benefit Home. The company’s business model is to be an active part of the community, financially and personally. To that end Steve Zbranek currently serves as Chairman of the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce and several people on the ZHCH team volunteer with numerous local charities.
Furthermore, the company was recognized for their innovative approach towards green building with everyone on the construction team having received the “Certified Green Professional” designation from the National Association of Homebuilders. With this training Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes not only advise their customers on energy saving features but they include sustainable building techniques on every home.
The company model is to build only pre-sold custom homes. Since Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes does not own land, or build unsold speculative homes, they are able to secure the company’s financial future indefinitely. As such, the company builds every home with every buyer considered as their next “show home”.
When asked by ABJ what they consider the “best thing about your work” to be, company founder Steve Zbranek, stated “Every builder will say that creating a dream home for a family is their greatest reward, after 32 years in the business I have come to appreciate something more. Building a new home from scratch is a fun, creative and often stressful event. For the past five or six years we have adjusted our model to improve the customers experience throughout construction. We strive to keep the process fun for our clients and take on the role of being the “on call” housing expert for years after completion, truly exemplifying “Customer Service”. Our satisfied customers would build with us again and compliment our process whenever asked. The best thing to me, personally, about my work is the relationships that we now build with our team, vendors, the community and our customers. Once upon a time, it was just about building houses.”
